Can I eat chocolate on a keto diet?

Yes!!! Fortunately, chocolate is 100% compatible with the keto diet. But you have to be very careful with the sugar content. Dark chocolate, dark chocolate and unsweetened cocoa powder can be used in many delicious keto desserts!

Because dark chocolate has more cocoa and less sugar than milk or semi-sweet chocolate, I use almost 80-100% dark chocolate in my recipes. Of course: The higher the cocoa content, the better!

The benefits of dark chocolate

Chocolate can be good for you! Indeed, numerous studies show that the chemicals in chocolate have a significant stimulating effect on the brain! Chocolate not only tastes good, it’s also a superfood: it makes you happier, reduces chocolate cravings and reduces the risk of strokes, Alzheimer’s and dementia.

Dark chocolate is also possible:

  • Reduces inflammation and may lower blood pressure
  • Protects the skin from oxidative damage caused by UV rays.
  • Increases the feeling of fullness, so you eat less,
  • Prevention of cardiovascular diseases (*)

 Plain chocolate keto dessert ingredients

The keto chocolate recipes below are made with keto friendly ingredients like butter, cocoa, sweeteners and flour substitutes.

  • Almond flour is a common replacement for conventional wheat flour in keto diets. Almond flour is available in most grocery stores and can be used quite easily as a substitute for high carbohydrate flours.
  • Coconut flour is another healthy ingredient for low-carb baking. Coconut flour is made from dried and ground coconut meat. Because it is high in fiber and absorbent, a small amount of coconut flour is very helpful.
  • Sugar-free dark chocolate chips– Most of the following recipes require the use of chocolate chips.
  • Cocoa Powder– Cocoa powder is an essential ingredient in the preparation of keto chocolate desserts. When used in small amounts, it gives a deep, rich chocolate flavor to any chocolate dessert.
