The ketogenic diet, or the keto diet, is one of the most popular ways to lose weight in recent years. It is a diet where you limit carbohydrate intake to very low levels, usually less than 20 grams per day. This can be achieved either through a very low carbohydrate diet (for some time), or by eating loads of high fat foods.

I’ve been struggling with my weight for years. I eat well, but exercise little and have had many attempts to lose a tiny bit of weight. I’ve tried dieting, and I’ve tried exercise, but nothing has worked. After the divorce, I was diagnosed with PCOS, a hormonal disorder that causes excessive hair growth, irregular periods, acne, and weight gain. I’ve tried taking birth control pills and even tried various medications that were supposed to help me with the problem. Nothing worked, and after a few years I was stuck with a hormonal imbalance that caused me to gain and lose weight throughout the year.

Doesn’t it feel good to be in ketosis?

In the case of the Troy player, that is indeed the case! After adopting the keto lifestyle over a year ago, he has had some great successes, including B. by not drinking soda at all, raising his cholesterol and getting closer to his weight loss. Since he started his keto journey, he is lighter, healthier and much happier. Discover his success on keto!

How long have you been following the keto diet?

I have been following the keto diet for exactly 15 months now.

How easy is this diet to incorporate into your lifestyle?

I’m single and I don’t care what other people eat. Plus, I can eat when I need to and not be tempted by the outside world.

Were there any difficulties on your path to keto?

Yeah, travel. I love to travel and this has been a challenge. Visit from parents who say: As long as you’re there, not dieting or being offered a high-carb meal and dessert, it’s hard to give up. Especially since that’s the reason I reached 310 pounds.

I also love chips and salsa and Mexican food in general. Going to a restaurant to get fajitas without tortillas was easy, but not eating chips was the worst!

What was your greatest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment was losing 70 pounds, from 310 to 240 in 14 months. My goal is 80, so I’m almost there and I’ll keep striving to reach that goal.

But more than the weight loss, quitting soda is a huge accomplishment and an extremely satisfying experience for me. I was a 4-6 bottle a day guy. It was bad. I still look confused in the mirror!

Favorite keto recipe or keto friendly product?

My favorite recipe is the steamed bell pepper. I fry 2 pounds of hamburger, then add a chopped bell pepper, garlic powder, onion salt, black pepper and about 10-15 drops of Worcestershire sauce. I cook it in the slow cooker and eat it with a big blob of sour cream. I enjoy it all year round!

Any advice for others on a keto diet?

My biggest piece of advice (which may not work for everyone): When you want something, you eat it… or you eat a lot more than you should. I love cookies. I miss them. So when I feel like a cookie, I eat one and usually that’s enough to satisfy my craving.

But some people can’t stop, so you need to know if you can be responsible with this method! I can stop after one, but some can’t. After all, that’s part of the reason we were fat.

Even if you give in, you get back up the next day and keep going. During the ketones phase, coffee and heavy creams helped me. When I was hungry, I drank coffee and was satiated.

As you’ve probably heard 10,000 times from other dieters, if I can do it, anyone can. I went from a 3XL to an XL and from a size 44 to a size 36. My blood tests are good now, although before I started keto I had high cholesterol, triglycerides, low good cholesterol, and a number of other problems, including pre-diabetes. I’m fine now, including my blood pressure!

Congratulations, Troy!
